8,200cc V8 - designed by Glenn Curtiss and one of the most successful Edwardian aircraft engines.
NOTE: The photo of the assembled engine in the wooden stand is included only to illustrate how an assembled engine appears - it is not the engine that is for sale although it is the same type and model. All other photos are of the stripped down engine that is offered for sale.
I bought this OX5 engine a couple of years ago from the US where it was part of a large collection of historic engines. It was then in the process of being rebuilt when its owner passed away.
It was professionally packed for shipping. Most parts were individually wrapped in bubble wrap and heavy moisture resistant paper. For safe keeping I have left them like that. I believe that everything is present to assemble a really good OX5 engine. All the major components appear to have been overhauled or replaced where necessary. There are (in the stuff I have unwrapped so far) some duplicate parts all of which are included in the sale.
As it was a work in progress when I bought it there are some small castings that have been made that still need final machining. The engine is unmodified from its aircraft specification as I understand it was intended to restore it as an aircraft engine but these engines are relatively simple to adapt to car use and there are a number that run very successfully and reliably in VSCC cars today both on the track and on the road.
I cannot guarantee that every little item is present but everything I can think of seems to be there and correct - including new valves and pistons, the magneto, carburettor, water manifold, inlet manifold, water pump etc etc.
Any questions please email me and I will answer as best I can. I have not had the engine assembled but I paid a high price for it in the honest belief it was everything I needed to build a complete and sound OX5
